About
the House
The 1896 farmhouse was built in the "folk" Queen Ann style. It has clean simple lines and is void of the more typical
Victorian gingerbread ornamentation. Its sturdy brick construction
is consistent with the people who lived in it and called it home.
Mature trees on the property cool the large wrap around front porch.
All of the five bedrooms, each with a full bath, have marble utility
sinks that were once used by farmhands before setting out to do
the day's chores. These same hungry farmers would also visit the
huge kitchen for a hearty breakfast.
Guests will enjoy the same
type of meals, complete with farm fresh eggs from the brick chicken
coop located near the house. Three large parlors on the first floor
provide guests plenty of room to gather with family and friends
for a game of checkers and good conversation. The outdoor bathing
spa, which includes a shower and clawfoot bathtub in a treehouse
setting, is also a popular warm weather escape. |
