Hesston Steam Museum Opening Weekend

With spring comes the opening of the International Friendship Gardens for the season. See early spring plants bloom and trees starting to fill up with leaves. These historic gardens are open through October and offer a fantastic variety of different plants and gardening styles to keep you fascinated all day.

Michigan City Farmers Market

The Mainstreet Association sponsors the Farmer's Market every Saturday from May through October on the corner of 8th and Washington Streets in Michigan City. Open from 8am until Noon, the Farmer's Market (just one block east of Lighthouse Place Outlet Mall) features locally-grown fruits and vegetables in season as well as craft items, flowers, and herbs. This Farmer's Market offers entertainment and education, as well, through local organizations. Bake sales, wine tastings, Alpaca wool spinning and other special events will take place at the Farmer's Market this season.

Hook Pottery

Open Clay Studio- Wood Fire

Explore throwing on the potter's wheel, hand building, and natural glaze making. Jon Hook will open his studio on Tuesday's to small groups of students. We will explore throwing techniques, hand building, natural glaze making, and clay moulds. Working with a high fire stoneware all the work will be wood fired in an outdoor kiln. Work will be fired on July 16 during our summer open house.

Civil War Reenactment

This free outdoor event features Civil War re-enactors and their families encamped with all the trappings of the 1860's. Camp life and blacksmith demonstrations and two battles will be fought on the grounds, one each day.
